International Airport (LXR)
Situated 6 km / 4 miles east
of Luxor, Luxor International
Airport is an entry point for
the popular tourist destination
of the Nile Valley. The airport
has recently been upgraded to
meet the needs of the growing
air traffic and it has been
designed to accommodate up to
eight million passengers a year.
Two terminals serve international
and domestic flights. Flights
from Germany, France, Spain,
Italy and the UK fly directly
to Luxor. Other international
flights land at Cairo International
Airport, from where 45-minute
domestic flights connect with
Luxor.
Facilities at the airport include
financial services, a post office,
Internet access, a travel agency,
mosque, pharmacy, first aid
and baby-changing rooms, business
centre and a tourist information
desk. The main terminal area
offers some shopping facilities,
with travel items, souvenirs,
handicrafts and reading material
on offer, while duty free is
available in the transit area.
